| Clearview Ranch, located at the foot
of the Sangre de Christos, is the home of
R.W. and Lisa Hampton and their family. One of today’s most well loved
entertainers in the Western Music genre, R.W. fell in love with Colfax County
at an early age as a Boy Scout visiting the neighboring Philmont Scout Ranch.
He returned for several summers as a seasonal Wrangler throughout high school
and vowed that he would someday have his own ranch in the beautiful valley near
Cimarron, NM.
It took R.W. more than 25 years to make it back to the Cimarron and Miami area to buy a place of his own, but in 1998 he and Lisa along with Lisa’s parents, Ted and Kelly Lyster, partnered on a little 300 acre pasture with a barn and some corrals that was once part of the original Maxwell Land Grant. Since that time the Hamptons have been adding to their ranch and home and even their family, raising all five of their boys on the place at some time. The two oldest boys - Cooper and Colter - are out of high school now and in the Marine Corps and college, respectively, but both have a love for training horses, music and cowboy life. The youngest three - Denver, Danner and Ethan - all live on the ranch and are involved in the horses and a small bunch of cattle that call the ranch home. The family travels with R.W. to as many shows as possible each year, but when they are home R.W.'s and Lisa’s focus is putting together a herd of well broke family ranch horses to offer for sale. The Hampton home has always been an escape for friends and relatives; everyone from national celebrities and world class artists to local cowboys and cross country fans has been welcomed. This year Clearview Ranch will host several Horseback Adventures including a horse training clinic and a Concert and Steak Dinner under the stars.
